When I start to paint, I do not have any ideas. To think of ideas stops the creative process. I texture and overlay colors to create a history of paint for the painting. I look at the painting to see how the shapes and colors and space are relating to one another. I follow my intuitive feeling about the painting and follow what the painting tells me to paint. For the painting to be finished, there is a "knowing," a "connection" between me and the painting.The painting is finished. If the feeling of being finished isn't there, then I continue to look and to paint.
